From Battlefield to Sideline | Head Football Coach | Veteran | Law Enforcement Officer | Family Man

Michael Blair is a U.S. Army veteran, seasoned law enforcement officer, and dedicated football coach whose life’s work has centered around leadership, service, and building strong teams, both on and off the field. Now the Head Coach of the Louisiana Rouxgaroux, Michael leads with the same discipline, integrity, and tactical focus that shaped his military and law enforcement careers.

Michael served as a Military Police Officer in the U.S. Army, where he held roles as Team Leader and SWAT Team Leader during deployments to Iraq and Guantanamo Bay. His experience in high-stakes environments taught him the importance of clear communication, preparation, and trust, qualities that have become the cornerstone of his coaching philosophy.

After his military service, Michael continued serving his community as a Property Crimes Detective with the Bossier City Police Department. In both law enforcement and coaching, he applies a calm, strategic approach that emphasizes accountability, unity, and performance under pressure.

Michael began his recent coaching career with the Shreveport Rouxgaroux in 2024, initially hired as an Assistant Coach and Quarterback Coach before being promoted to Offensive Coordinator. In this role, he designed and implemented adaptive offensive schemes tailored to player strengths, coached quarterbacks on timing, mechanics, and playbook execution, and played a key part in helping the team transition successfully into the fast-paced 8v8 arena football format. His leadership contributed to measurable improvements in offensive production and overall team cohesion.

Prior to that, Michael served as Head Coach of the Bossier Roughnecks from 2021 to 2023. There, he built the coaching staff from the ground up, hiring key positions including Offensive Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator, and line coach. He developed and implemented comprehensive offensive and defensive playbooks and strategies, leading the team to Division Playoffs in 2021 and Championship appearances in both 2022 and 2023. Michael also oversaw player recruitment and development, fostering a culture centered on discipline, accountability, and long-term growth, while emphasizing team unity and system consistency.

From 2020 to 2021, Michael was the Offensive Coordinator for the Bossier Bombers of the North Louisiana Football Alliance. In this role, he created and executed offensive strategies and game plans tailored to the 9v9 league format. His precise play-calling and thorough film study helped lead the team to a 2021 championship appearance. Additionally, he evaluated player talent and assigned roles to maximize both individual and team performance, collaborating closely with staff and players to maintain high efficiency and adaptability.

On the field, Michael fosters a culture of toughness, respect, and continuous growth, developing not only athletes but responsible, resilient men.

Michael holds an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix. He graduated from Parkway High School in Bossier City, Louisiana, in 2003.

Michael’s expertise encompasses football strategy and play design, player development and leadership, as well as film study and game planning. His background in military and law enforcement leadership enhances his ability to build strong teams and manage staff effectively. He excels in crisis management and problem solving, always emphasizing clear communication and accountability.

Michael is recognized for his strong leadership and communication skills. He is a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of football tactics, and he maintains a steadfast commitment to excellence and player development.

Beyond his professional life, Michael is a proud husband and father. He shares his life with his loving wife and their three children: a 19-year-old son, a spirited 7-year-old daughter, and a fun-loving 5-year-old son. His commitment to family is at the heart of everything he does, and he carries those values into every locker room, huddle, and community he’s part of.

From the battlefield, to the streets, to the sideline and most importantly, at home, Michael Blair leads with purpose, passion, and heart.
